OUR HISTORY

1978 — A COMMUNITY BEGINS

South Clareview Community League was created in 1978 to serve the residents of Sifton Park, Belmont, and Kernohan in Northeast Edmonton. As a member of the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL), South Clareview is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization governed by community bylaws and policies. Each May, Board and Executive members are elected at the Annual General Meeting.

GROWING TOGETHER

The league continues to provide events and activities that promote community, health, and well-being. As demographics shift, we adapt our programs to meet the evolving needs of members—benefiting both individuals and families.

SERVING THREE NEIGHBOURHOODS

South Clareview unites residents from Sifton Park, Belmont, and Kernohan through programs, volunteers, partnerships, and community-building initiatives.

OUR LOGO & WHAT IT REPRESENTS

COMMUNITY ● GROWTH ● UNITY

The South Clareview logo symbolizes people coming together to form the roots, trunk, and branches of a thriving community. The tree represents growth and resilience, while the three figures and branching leaves represent the three neighbourhoods that originally formed the league: Sifton Park, Belmont, and Kernohan.

Values

We value inclusivity, respect, and collaboration, ensuring everyone feels welcome and heard. We are committed to community engagement, transparency, and creating positive experiences that strengthen neighbourhood connections.

Bylaws and Governance

A community league must have a properly elected board of directors, including committee chairpersons responsible for overseeing the league's business. Each community league is required by the Societies Act to prepare and approve a set of bylaws that govern how the league operates. Each league is required to hold an annual general meeting where directors are elected, and financial statements are reviewed.
